Tuesday Program: Philip Brunelle and Maria Jette, “The Music of Christmas"

Event Date: Tuesday, December 19, 2017
Event Time: 11:00 am

There’s more to Christmas music than Jingle Bells and the Hallelujah Chorus, of course, and world-class musicians Philip Brunelle and Maria Jette will lead you through the comic and serious, from new versions of old favorites to songs that never made it to Rudolph status (and you may agree with history’s assessment). Snowmen, anthropomorphic Christmas trees, ungrateful gift recipients … and a serene solo carol by Minnesotan Abbie Burt Betinis. Bring along your fa-la-la voices, in case Philip and Maria press you into caroling service!

Philip is founder and artistic director of VocalEssence; he has been awarded Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, Sweden’s Royal Order of the Polar Star, and has been made an Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire. Soprano Maria Jette’s wide-ranging career has encompassed everything from early Baroque opera to world premieres, in the United States and abroad.

Members are encouraged to invite friends and family to join us for this special concert, and to stay for the Club’s annual Holiday High Noon Dinner that follows the Program at 12:00 noon. This special holiday meal includes your choice of Crab Cake, Cornish Game Hen or Vegetable Gnocchi, plus the Club’s signature Popovers and Lemon Cake for dessert. A signature cocktail — the Pomegranate Martini —  is an optional addition to the luncheon.

The cost of the luncheon is $21.00 plus tax and service charge. Reservations are absolutely necessary and must be made by Thursday, December 14.
RSVP for yourself and your guests online or to the Front Desk (frontdesk@womansclub.org or 612-813-5300).
