Come and enjoy learning about the true reality of Ukraine. We'll learn about Ukraine's history and government, as well as other points of interest about Ukraine, often referred to as the "breadbasket of Europe."
Our speaker will be Lida Poletz, who has spent her career in journalism and strategic communications, and has deep professional and personal ties to Ukraine. She spent three years in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, as a foreign correspondent for Reuters news agency in the mid-1990s. After nine years with Reuters Lida joined the Minneapolis office of global public relations agency Weber Shandwick, where she spent the last 14 years.
Lida has a strong personal connection to Ukraine. Her parents emigrated from Ukraine in the aftermath of World War II, and she grew up steeped in Ukrainian history and culture. She is a fluent Ukrainian speaker and has traveled frequently to Ukraine over the past two decades, most recently in 2016. Come and enjoy learning about the true reality of Ukraine. We’ll learn about their history and government, as well as other points of interest. A wonderful dinner will be served featuring the foods of Ukraine.
