Tuesday Program: Ishwari Rajak, The Invisible War on Blood

Ishwari Rajak discusses the cultural taboos, customs and beliefs surrounding menstruation, including how young women in her home country of Nepal are sequestered into huts during their periods, which had lead to serious harm and death. She also discusses how the policies of the United States present difficulties for young woman to receive health care and will show how modern advertising has progressed to form attitudes people hold toward woman and hygiene products.

Ishwari is from Nepal and a scholar in menstruation cultures followed around the world. She has a master’s degree in Gender and Women’s Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership. She will also show her documentary also titled “The Invisible War on Blood.”
