Ian Andersen, Guest Speaker
Ian Andersen, born and raised in Minnetonka, nephew of Louis Gernbacher will talk about his 15,000 mile bike ride. From 2016 to 2017 he spent 16 months living on his bicycle and sleeping in a tent as he made his way south from Alaska to Argentina. Ian says that the experience was transformative. During his talk he’ll share: nuggets of wisdom that he gleaned while traveling, his motivations for completing the trip and stories of people he met along the way.
He rode solo most of the time but was in good company with his camera. Ian was most recently featured in the February issue of Minnesota Monthly Magazine, in a piece documenting homegrown Minnesota explorers. Ian is strongly influenced by both his uncle and Dan Buettner, who were among the first to ever cycle the Alaska to Argentina route in 1986.
