The American Swedish Institute leadership staff and members of the Gudrun Sjödén design team will be visiting The Woman’s Club to share with us as they prepare to open a new exhibition celebrating the career and boldly feminine collections of Gudrun Sjödén, the renowned Swedish textile designer and entrepreneur, of her remarkable colorful eco-conscious business.
We will learn about her design processes and female-focused philosophies and positive thinking. The exhibit, which will have a First Look Viewing Party Opening on Thursday, July 26 at 7:00 pm, is on display at the American Swedish Institute from July 27 - October 28, 2018. It is a visually striking display of original watercolors, samples of her textiles and clothing and archival constructed catalogs of the designer who is often considered the godmother of Swedish fashion. Members are encouraged to wear Gudrun Sjödén clothing if they are fortunate enough to own a piece or two.
This event is open for Members to invite guests. Members need to RSVP to the Front Desk, and may ask to reserve tables. Nonmember guests must purchase a lunch ticket at the bar, or Members may charge the guest’s lunch to their own account. A chef’s choice entrée will be offered along with the normal salad/soup bar. The entrée may be inspired by Swedish cuisine.
