Tuesday Programs: Wallin Education Partners

Event Date: Tuesday, January 22, 2019
Event Time: 11:00 am

Honorary Guest: Maxine Wallin

In 1992, Win and Maxine Wallin began giving scholarships to students at South High School in Minneapolis. They believed in the importance of post-secondary education and realized that the cost of education made it prohibitive for some students. From those first scholarships, the program has expanded to become the Wallin Education Partners and has supported more than 4800 scholars. It is funded by corporate donors and individual philanthropy.

Susan Basil King, Executive Director, will talk about the program, the students who receive the scholarships and how those students are supported throughout their college years. This will also be an opportunity for us to pay tribute to Maxine Wallin, a long time and active Woman’s Club Member for her work with the Wallin Scholars and many other community organizations and causes. We will be honoring Maxine Wallin for her civic activities, including the Wallin Education Scholars, during the program and possibly also at lunch.

The Tuesday Program is a Club tradition to educate, inspire and entertain our Members and guests. Coffee and tea are served at 10:30 am in the Lounge, followed by a Guest Speaker in the Ballroom at 11:00 am and lunch in the Dining Room at 12:00 pm. The cost for lunch is $18.00 plus tax and service charge ($23.28, inclusive of tax and service). Reservations are not necessary.
