It’s Oscar month, and Connie and guest Arne Fogel explore the surprising list of songs that lost the Oscar for Best Original Song and yet became hits far surpassing the winners!

Along with Rick Carlson at the piano, Connie and Arne sing Oscar losers by Henry Mancini (“Charade”),  Burt Bacharach (“Alfie”),  Randy Newman (“You’ve Got a Friend in Me”), Cole Porter (“I’ve Got You Under My Skin”),  Michel Legrand (“I Will Wait for You”),  Harold Arlen (“The Man that Got Away”),  Sting (“Until”)  and many more.

Vocalist, radio host and producer Arne Fogel appears regularly at Crooners Supper Club and various Twin Cities venues.  Arne and Connie have performed together on numerous stages and created and cohosted the long-running radio series “Singers and Standards” on KBEM Jazz Radio 88.5.    More about Arne here: http://www.arnefogel.com/about/

Pianist Rick Carlson is a longtime member of the Wolverines Big Band and appears regularly at clubs and concert halls all over the Twin Cities.  He is often seen performing in Crooners’ Dunsmore Room with his wife, vocalist Maud Hixson, and holds a residency at Maggie's Bar, the club’s after-hours venue.
